Why You Should Hire a Board Certified Attorney
Video Transcript
So, what’s the benefit of having a board-certified attorney look into your case, or perhaps an incident involving a loved one who passed away and is no longer here to tell you their side of the story?
Well, there’s so much that goes into an investigation like that. You’ve got a traffic homicide investigator, usually when someone passes away in a car crash, you have the initial responding police officers, all of whom are trying to do their very best to get to the bottom of what happened. Nowadays, a lot of times, police officers responding to scenes will be wearing body cameras, and they say a picture’s worth a thousand words; a video is worth even more than that. You can get real-time data from exactly what was happening at the scene of the accident by requesting that type of information, and it can be very useful in our investigation. Sometimes, the traffic homicide investigators, they’ve got a stack of other cases they’re working on; sometimes they see things a little differently.
It’s always beneficial to have a board-certified attorney with the resources to look at all of these different things and see how the pieces fit together to see what really happened. A second set of eyes, a second opinion, sometimes is very beneficial. It can really help people get the justice they deserve, particularly if the initial reports say, oh well, it was all the person who passed away’s fault. That’s not always the case.
I can think of an example where we did that not long ago, where the deck seemed stacked against us, against our client, and a jury wound up rendering a verdict for 10 million dollars in favor of our client. And this is a case where at the very beginning, all the police reports said it was our client’s son’s fault, but once we started peeling back the layers of the onion and really digging into what happened, we realized, no, that’s not what happened. Then we were able to explain that to the jury through our experts, through the evidence left at the scene, through the body camera videos, all of these different things, eyewitness testimony, about what really happened, and that wonderful family was able to achieve the justice that they so badly deserved.
